The Beach; Absolutely Giant and Beautifully Windswept
The beach is a masterpiece of the Norfolk coast- mile upon mile of shimmering, soft sand. The sand lays beside the hundreds of pastel coloured beach huts that sit along the shoreline. Walk along the shore, run wild across the dunes, or just sit with a cold drink, drifting gently into early afternoon nap territory. Or you might prefer to visit the pinewoods; scented, shady and essential when the midday sun gets above above itself.
Must know tip: The beach bus will carry you and your sandy belongings between the town and the sea- why not take an ice cream for the short mile long journey.
Give In and Go Crabbing
Crabbing is such a fun, family favourite activity. You'll arrive in Wells and before long, you'll be handed a line, bait and a bucket. Along the quay, a legion of children and grown-ups dangle string lines into the water, hauling up crabs with expressions of glee. You'll join them and you'll love it. It'll give the families competitive spirit a good airing.
The Wells Carnival (Early August)
Wells enjoys the rhythms of its summer carnival in early August. Both residents and visitors weave together in joyful celebration. Wells host a week of family fun events including a carnival day around the town, featuring fancy dress and floats and traditional seaside activities. Stalls brim with tempting treats and music fills the air of the streets. Its lively, joyful, and unmissable.
Nature Walks, Seal Spotting and Marshy Marches
This stretch of coast is a paradise for walkers, birdwatchers, and the quietly nosy. Holkham National Nature Reserve and nearby Blakeney Point are wonderful places to discover the diverse landscape of the reserve, including its beach dunes and creeks. You can stroll for hours, discovering new landscapes or take a guided seal trip.
Ride From Wells To Walsingham
Should you fancy a train adventure, mount the Wells & Walsingham light railway. For thirty minutes, let the steam carry you through wildflower and hedgerows and watch the idyllic Norfolk countryside unfold.
