How To Use De-ionised Water for Ironing

Our natural fragrance free de-ionised ironing water is perfect for use in all irons and steamers and is used for its purity and gentle qualities. De-ionised water is a must have in hard-water areas to maintain the quality of your garments and appliances and it is safe to use on all fabrics. Using de-ionised water when ironing is a simple way to elevate ironing, transforming this ritual into something more than a chore.

Why Choose De-ionised Water?

  • Prevents Limescale: De-ionised water is free from minerals cause limescale, protecting your iron and extending its life.
  • Gentle on Fabrics: Pure steam means no mineral deposits on your favourite linens and cottons, keeping them soft and fresh.
  • Smoothing ironing: With no impurities, steam flows freely, making creases disappear with ease.

How to use De-ionised Water In Your Iron

  • Fill: Half fill the reservoir of your iron or steamer with deionised water, then fill the remaining half with tap water. Tap water contains some minerals that help maintain a natural pH balance, reducing the risk of long-term wear inside the iron or steamer. A small amount of tap water reintroduces trace minerals that make the deionised water less corrosive, but still low enough in hardness to avoid scaling problems.
  • Iron with care: Glide your iron gently over each garment, letting the pure steam do its work. Notice how smoothly the iron moves, free from the spluttering or residue that tap water can cause.
  • Aftercare: Once finished, empty any remaining water. Wipe the iron’s base with a soft cloth to keep it pristine for next time.

I like to use our de-ionised ironing water in conjunction with our Anti-Crease Mist - designed to help remove creases and reduce static from your fabrics whilst adding a little joy to your laundry routine.

P.S. I'm always looking out for handy ironing hacks, so do let me know if you have any.
