5 Ways to Prepare for Autumn

5 Ways to Prepare for Autumn: Embrace the Seasonal Change

Autumn 91

As Summer draws to a close and the leaves begin to change colours, it's time to shift our focus to the beauty and coziness that Autumn brings. The transition from the warmth of Summer to the crisp air of Autumn can be a delightful experience if you're prepared. In this blog, I explore five ways to prepare for Autumn and fully embrace the magic of this season.

How do I transition my wardrobe for Autumn?

The first step in preparing for Autumn is transitioning your wardrobe. As the temperatures drop and the days become shorter, it's time to swap out those lightweight Summer clothes for cozy Autumn attire. Here are some tips to consider:

  1. Layer Up: Invest in versatile pieces like cardigans, scarves, and lightweight jackets that can be easily layered for warmth and style. I always find misting these with my natural Garment Refresher for a refresh a wonderful alternative to washing. Especially when we don’t have the natural sunshine to dry our garments.

  2. Autumn Colours: Embrace the rich, earthy tones of Autumn in your clothing choices. Think deep reds, warm oranges, and classic browns to complement the changing foliage.

  3. Footwear: Swap out flip-flops and sandals for boots and closed-toe shoes. Not only will they keep your feet warmer, but they'll also protect them from wet leaves and rain puddles.

  1. Change up your signature scent: I always like to swap out my sweet/floral fragrances for a deeper, more musky scent. I have been using my 91 Days of Autumn Parfum recently to celebrate the new upcoming season.

How can I make my house cosy in the Autumn?

To fully immerse yourself in the Autumn spirit, it's time to update your home decor. Here are some ideas:

  1. Fill your space with Candles: When the season changes I like to swap out my natural diffusers for my Autumn-scented candles like Cinnamon, Clove, Cedar or Sandalwood. They not only smell wonderful but also create a cozy atmosphere.

  2. Decorate with Nature: Incorporate elements of nature into your decor. Display colourful leaves, acorns, and pinecones in glass vases or create a seasonal wreath for your front door.

  3. Warm Textiles: Swap out lightweight summer throws and cushions for plush blankets and throw pillows in autumnal colours like deep burgundy, forest green, and mustard yellow.

Seasonal Cooking: How to incorporate Autumn flavours

Autumn is a season of abundance when it comes to delicious and hearty foods. Embrace the flavours of autumn by cooking up some seasonal recipes:

  1. Pumpkin Everything: Try your hand at pumpkin pies, pumpkin soups, or pumpkin spice lattes. The versatility of this ingredient makes it an Autumn favourite.

  2. Apple Delights: Visit a local orchard and pick some fresh apples to make apple crisps, apple cider, or even caramel apples.

  3. Comforting Soups and Stews: As the weather cools down, enjoy heartwarming soups and stews filled with seasonal vegetables and herbs.

Outdoor Adventures to do in Autumn

Autumn is a fantastic time to explore the great outdoors. The vibrant foliage and cooler temperatures make it an ideal season for hiking, camping, or simply going for a leisurely stroll through a park. Be sure to:

  1. Check the Weather: Stay prepared for unpredictable weather changes by dressing in layers and bringing rain gear if necessary.

  2. Capture the Beauty: Don't forget your camera or phone to capture the breathtaking Autumn scenery. Share your photos with friends and family to spread the joy of the season.

How to clean your house for Autumn

Multi Surface Spray Refill

Autumn is a natural time for cleaning and decluttering. Here's how to make the most of it:

  1. Deep Clean: Give your home a thorough cleaning before you start decorating for the season. This will help create a fresh canvas for your Autumn decor. I like to use my Coastal Walks scented Multi-Surface Spray throughout my home to do this.

  2. Wardrobe Cleanup: As you transition your wardrobe, take the opportunity to declutter. Donate clothes you no longer wear to make room for your Autumn attire.

  3. Prepare for Winter: Use this time to check your heating system, insulate windows, and make any necessary home repairs before Winter arrives.

Autumn is a season of change and transition, both in nature and in our lives. By preparing for Autumn with these five tips, you can fully embrace the beauty and cosiness that this season has to offer. Whether you're updating your wardrobe, decorating your home, enjoying seasonal cuisine, exploring the outdoors, or getting organised, Autumn has something for everyone to savour and enjoy. So, get ready to cozy up and make the most of this wonderful time of year!
