How to remove a tick the natural way

There’s something wonderfully grounding about the daily rituals we share with our dogs-long walks, muddy paws, and the gentle care we give in return. But every now and then, nature brings us a little challenge: the tick. These tiny hitchhikers can be a nuisance, but with a calm hand and a few natural remedies, you can keep your canine companion comfortable and safe.

Stay Calm and Gather Your Tools
First, don’t panic. Ticks are common, especially in the warmer months when we’re all spending more time outdoors. You’ll need a tick remover or a pair of fine-tipped tweezers. If you don’t have a tick remover, tweezers will do-just be gentle and precise.

Gentle Removal
Slide the tick remover or tweezers under the tick, as close to your dog’s skin as possible. Twist slowly in one direction-don’t pull upwards. The tick will let go when it’s ready, and this method helps ensure you remove the whole tick, head and all.

Soothe and Cleanse
Once the tick is out, clean the area with a mild, natural antiseptic or a little diluted apple cider vinegar. This helps soothe the skin and keep it fresh.

Dispose of the Tick
Pop the tick in a small jar of rubbing alcohol or soapy water to ensure it doesn’t find its way back to your dog.

Natural ways to deter ticks and flea

I'm always double checking Mr Hobbes - this is why I created our flea and tick spray - I simply spritz him every morning and every evening (and this can be used on his bedding!)
 1. Regular grooming - combing your dog’s coat after walks helps spot and remove ticks before they latch on, Mr Hobbes lays down as soon as we get home now waiting for me to do this!
2. Spritz flea and tick spray every day to try and prevent (avoiding the face and eyes) - this is infused with 100% pure Lavender and Cedar wood essential oils. They can't stand the smell of Lavender.
3. Wash your pet and bedding regularly when the weather is warmer, I always use my dog shampoo and not only does he smell great but this will keep on top of checking your dog for any sign of fleas or ticks.

I do hope this helps and if you have any tips for this, please do share :)
