The Art Of Having A Pet And A Clean House

We love Mr Hobbes but the mess our much loved canine companions bring in/causes within your home can be very frustrating and time consuming. I have put my secret methods below for you with how I use my natural pet care cleaning products around my home to help with unwanted odours in our homes.

Natural Methods for Removing Dog Hair

Rubber Gloves: Dampen a pair of rubber gloves and run your hands over the upholstery or carpet. The static electricity generated will attract the hair to the gloves, allowing you to easily collect it in clump - genius!

Window Squeegee: (my favourite method!):
Use a window squeegee to pull pet hair from carpets and upholstery. The rubber edge effectively gathers hair without damaging the fabric. Simply run the squeegee over the affected areas and finish it off with spritzing the carpet with garment refresher to scent the carpet)

Broom with Rubber Bristles: For carpets, a broom with rubber bristles can help loosen hair from the fibres. This method is effective for gathering hair into manageable piles before vacuuming.

Natural Dog Grooming

Bathe your dog regularlyMr Hobbes loves a bath with his dog shampoo As a general rule, most dogs benefit from a bath once a month, keeping the grooming needs of your dog's coat top of mind. Certain breeds - such as Basset Hounds or Labrador Retriever - have oily coats and may need a bath as frequently as once a week. Other short- or medium-haired dog breeds tend to get by just fine with a monthly bath time. If your dog's fur is long, consider brushing them more often than you bathe them. This helps keep your dog's coat clean while distributing natural oils for a shiny, healthy coat, using dog cologne regularly will help keep them smelling fresh too in between washes.

Brush often if your dog sheds. Brushing your dog helps remove dead hair, dirt, and dander. Brushing takes a few minutes and allows you to bond with your dog. If daily brushings aren't feasible, try to brush them once a week, especially if your dog has a coat with long hair.

Keep your dog’s bed and living space clean. Bacteria can collect on your dog's bed, blankets, or crate pad. Regularly wash their bed and linens to prevent excess bacteria from spreading to your dog - a couple of days a week I will shake Hobbes bed outside and then finish it off with pet bed refresher, this helps keeping it smelling clean in-between washes.

Wipe their paws after being outside. When your dog finishes doing their business or playing outside, wipe their muddy paws with a Dog Paw Cleanser with a cloth before letting them back in the house - this will prevent your dog from tracking in mud or getting muddy paw prints throughout the house.

P.S - I always carry my Dog Paw Cleanser and Dog Cologne in the car with me, it's perfect for those muddy/sandy walks!
