It’s truly remarkable how deeply fragrance can touch our lives. Reading about the moments and memories these scents bring up for you honestly brought tears to my eyes. We feel so grateful to be part of these experiences and to share in the beautiful connections that fragrance weaves between us all.
We were genuinely moved by the wonderful response to last week’s call for your favourite scents. So many of you shared your stories and some even kindly allowed us to pass them along, so others could enjoy them too! There's quite a few but here were a few of my favourites..
Here’s to the power of scent, and to the stories that make each fragrance uniquely yours:

Your lovely stories
Dear Bella,
My favourite perfume is
Eventide and this is why...
Last September whilst on holiday in Southwold I discovered your shop and this scent, your wonderful assistant Amber served me on different occasions that holiday and the first thing I purchased was Eventide. I had spent 2 years unable to cope with perfumes as I have a brain cyst which at first caused my sense of smell to be so sensitive everything made me feel nauseous. This was our first holiday since the cyst had shrunk and I felt like myself again and discovering such a beautiful, soft, gentle, natural scent was like wish come true. But the absolute best thing, the thing that will make me always love
Eventide was that one evening on holiday my youngest son, 11, snuggled into me on the benches along the seafront and said I'm glad you're better mum because now you smell twinkly again, I said how do you mean I smell twinkly, he said you smell like when your laughing and your eyes are twinkly, like soft mum things.
It was
Eventide, and I teared up, looked at my burly bloke of a husband who was watery eyed too and at my boys clambering about, sun-baked and happy and I will never forget the moment, it was everything. Now whenever I wear
Eventide it makes me so happy and grateful for my life, my children and that I can wear perfume again!!!
On a less emotional note my cheeky 18 year old son has started what he calls a family meme whenever I wear
Eventide of saying 'watch it Dad mums got her twinkle on' which is ridiculous but beautiful because I know without us saying anything my children associate that smell with mum being back, mum being happy and well and in the sea throwing seaweed at them... I know I've rambled a little and I apologise, I didn't even really send this hoping to win I really wanted you to know that you aren't just making wonderful natural products, you are making precious family memories, and memes!
Thanks for helping me get my twinkle on
Hi Bella and team,
Since I read the newsletter I’ve had to have a long hard think what my favourite scent is. The reason for this is the first scent I ever tried was Rose Garden when I stayed at the pigs, I thought that was divine and immediately bought your shampoo and conditioner and have been a NNL loyal fan since (my friends and colleagues know how much I love the brand!).
This was then replaced by my new favourite being
Coastal Walks, but then I had
Eventide which I equally love. I then got
Blythe spirit in a monthly box and was blown away by this delicious new scent, before it was then topped by a subsequent box and an introduction to
En Plein Air! In all, it’s fair to say I love all of them, but if I had to choose, I guess my latest favourite is
En Plein Air- even my husband loves that one and always asks what I’ve sprayed in the room or am wearing.
Also, as a
monthly mystery box subscriber, I thought you may find it comical to know that such is my delight at opening the box- and due to raving so much about your products, I now share my box opening via Teams with a colleague who’s based in another part of our country! I gifted her a
coastal walks candle and she can’t bring herself to burn it, but she has it on her desk to enjoy.

To Bella,
Thank you so much for creating all these amazing and beautiful
products. You do it with so much care and attention to detail. And I’ve never not received an order without a personal message and a gift inside: thank you so, so much! In reply to this email, my favourite parfum is either Columbia Road or Eventide has been my go to previously.

Good morning Bella,
My favourite of all your scents is Rose Garden as it reminds me of eating traditional Turkish Delight as a child which then brings to mind the White Witch in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The tv show in the 80s was my favourite as a kid.
The lovely mix of floral oils as well as rose oil in your Rose Garden Eau De Parfum reminds me of sitting in the sun in my God Mother’s garden as a small child. Late in the afternoon we would sit on a bench next to pink roses admiring the vegetables and fruit in the garden, shelling peas, or just listening to her talk about the fruit or veg she thought we should pick next and how she was going to make a pie, a cake or a jam.
Rose water reminds me of my great grandmother caring for her skin at bed time with traditional rose water. So I find it comforting to detect an aroma of rose every now and then by wearing a rose scent. Rose has an old lady connotation for some but I think the addition of lemon and cedar wood in your fragrance add another dimension that’s sophisticated without being geriatric!
So many of you kindly said yes to sharing your scent stories - thank you so much! I truly hope you enjoyed reading through some of them as much as we did. If you haven’t shared yours yet, it’s not too late - it would be so lovely to hear from you.
Talk soon,
